Graveside services for Henry (Hank) Coy McGhee Jr., 86, West Plains, will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. McGhee died at 6:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1922, in Piedmont, Ala., to Henry Coy McGhee Sr. and Kate Bell Padget McGhee. On April 17, 1955, he was married at Los Angeles, Calif., to Gayla Hughes who preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1995. While we were not ready for him to go, we seek comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife, Gayla. He had worked as an oil-rig driller and with the Greyhound Bus Lines in California. After moving to Missouri in 1969, Mr. McGhee owned and operated a dairy farm, owned the Meca Deli and also worked as a security guard at Marathon Electric for 10 years. His main love was making and selling crafts with his wife. Also, he enjoyed bird watching, especially the Martins and he enjoyed his life at NHC HealthCare. He is survived by eight children, Alan McGhee, wife, Peggy, Sue Kelley, husband, John, Charlene McGhee, Wayne McGhee, Danny McGhee, Rick Ingram, wife, Sharry, Roger Ingram and Steve Ingram, wife, Stacy; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one special brother, Jim McGhee; many nieces and nephews including Rena McGhee-Chicago, husband, Al, Kevin McGhee and Peter Hillen. His parents; wife; one brother, Pete McGhee; and two sisters, Prudence Mae McGhee and Charlene Hillen; and one nephew, Jimmy Dale McGhee, precede him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to NHC HealthCare and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. [robertsondrago.com]
