Mr. Irvin "Jim" Johnson, a longtime resident of Willow Springs, passed away from natural causes on Friday, February 13, 2015, while at the Willow Care Nursing Home. Born January 5, 1930 in Aberdeen , South Dakota to Floyd and Irvina (Weeks) Johnson, he was 85 years old.
On April 11, 1952, Jim was married to Viann E. Turnbull in Bentonville , Arkansas and to this union four children were born. Mr. Johnson proudly served his Country in the US Army during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received several military medals and commendations including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. During his twenty plus years in the service, he was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky; Korea, Japan, Fort Riley, Kansas; Verdun, France; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Dix, New Jersey; and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In 1969, Jim and his family made Willow Springs their home. Jim was also a long time member of the First Christian Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Viann Elaine Jonson and his sister-in-law, Carol Mullins.
He is survived by his children, Kay Beautt and her husband Terry of Elmer, Missouri ; Jean Tietgers and her husband Richard of Universal City, Texas; Cindy Greene and her husband Eddie of Pomona, Missouri; and Bobby Johnson and his wife Tracy Johnson of Burwick , Maine . He is further survived by four grandsons; five granddaughters; and nineteen great grandchildren. Five younger brothers and three sisters, Jim being the oldest of sixteen children, further survives.
