ROSE MAXINE PERRY
Rose Maxine Perry, age 88 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born April 3, 1923, near Leonard, Missouri, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Grace (Simmons) McEwen. On February 25, 1941 she married William Jasper Perry who preceded her in death in
1977. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Donna Faye Lindley; one son, Billy Perry; two grandsons, Joseph Richard Hagar and Jasper Ray Hagar; one brother, Meredith McEwen; and one sister, Helen Snow.
Surviving are two sons, Earnest Perry and wife Nelda of Kearney, Missouri and Trent Perry of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter, Virginia Perry and husband Junior of La Plata, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jim, John, and Jeff Hagar, Susan Slaughter, and Randy Perry; twelve great- grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Maxine lived most all of her life in the Novelty and La Plata communities. She owned and operated the Cottage Hotel in La Plata from 1962 to 1980 and the La Plata Motel from 1981 to 1994. She also was employed at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri for a number of years. Maxine had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in La Plata, Missouri.
Graveside services were held Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Cherry Box Cemetery in Cherry Box, Missouri. Pallbearers were Tyler Hagar, John Hagar, Jim Hagar, Jeff Hagar, Randy Perry, and Dakotta Hagar.
