NOEL, Mo. -- Harold Coombes Schifferli, 90, of Noel died July 20, 2006, at the Seneca House in Seneca, Mo. He was born in Osage County, Kan., to the late Edward Alois and Maybelle Eula Coombes Schifferli. At age 2, he moved with his family to Noel, where he met his wife, Dorothy Jane Wilson. During World War II, they moved to Inglewood, Calif., where Harold worked for Douglas Aircraft. Then they moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he worked for North American before joining the Army in 1944. He served in Hawaii. The family then returned to Noel to continue his business, Noel Hardware and Lumber Company. He later worked for the State Bank of Noel before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Noel, where he held many offices. He also served on the local school board for nine years, the bank board, along with many civic projects. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 27, 2004.

Survivors include two daughtrs, Joann Elliott of Seneca, Mo., and Debbie Powell and husband Steve of Noel; four grandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Noel with the Rev. David Howlett officiating.

The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. at the church.
