Ruth Ida Johnson Hollibaugh, 92, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care Center in Pekin, Ill.
She was born June 1, 1916, in Kansas City, daughter of Albert and Ida Turner Johnson.
She worked many years as a CNA at Texas County Memorial Hospital and later volunteered at the Houston Senior Center.
She enjoyed visiting with her friends, needlework and quilting, especially making quilts for her grandchildren. She loved listening to music, going to various church activities and playing bingo at the senior center and later the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Emily Couch; two granddaughters; two brothers, Raymond Johnson and William Schoppe; and a sister, Irene Johnson.
Survivors include her children, Ruth Walter of Three Rivers, Mich., Dolores Smith of New Castle, Okla., Lou Cafourek of Pekin, Ill., Everett Lee Hollibaugh Jr. of Houston and Kris Edge of Visalia, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilma Gherna of Three Rivers, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Houston Senior Center or Harbor Light Hospice of Pekin, Ill. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansfh.com.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Wesley Wallace officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park in West Plains. [evansfh.com]
