Stanley F. Greene
Stanley F. Greene, age 86, of Sparta, passed away Friday, December 27, 2002. He was born September 16, 1916 to Richard A. and Minnie Greene in Hopedale, Missouri.
He was baptized in 1930 and served as deacon of First Baptist Church of Sparta since January 19, 1958. Stanley married Ruby May Smith November 5, 1938 and to this union three children were born, Joe A., Janis Sue, and Wanda May.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Ruby; a son, Joe A.; a grandson, Joel Ray; two brothers, Stuart and Stanford Greene; a sister, Thelma Weagley; and a nephew, Roger Greene. He married Jewell Workman on January 20, 1967. Stanley was a lifelong farmer and employed at Ash Grove Lime and Cement for over 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Jewell; two daughters, Janis and husband Dennis Fields of Ozark, Wanda and husband Jack Merritt of Republic; a stepson, Jerry Workman and wife Debbie of O’Fallon; a stepdaughter, Barbara and husband Jerry Kirksey of Bolivar; five grandchildren, Jolene Huff, Scott Lawson, Brad Lawson, Jill Hargrove and Suzanne Beard; ten step grandchildren, Andy Workman, Jeff Workman, Cindy Dowdy, Julie Workman, Jay Kirksey, Daren Kirksey, David Kirksey, Bill Fields, Russell Fields, and Paul Fields; and several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Gary Robertson and Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery, north of Ozark. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Sparta Building Fund at the Citizens Bank of Sparta.

Mrs. Ruby Greene, 50, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday in her home 2 ½ miles northwest of Sparta after a lingering illness.
A lifelong resident of Christian County and a member of the Sparta Baptist Church, she is survived by her husband, Stanley; a son, Joe A., Sparta; two daughters, Mrs. Janis Lawson and Mrs. Wanda Merritt of Sparta; one grandchild; her mother, Mrs. Ada Smith, Sparta; and two brothers, Cecil Smith, Springfield and Charles Smith, Rogersville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Sparta Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Swift officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Clifford Day and burial will be in Hopedale Cemetery under direction of Harris of Ozark.
