Eric Jayson Gentry, 28, son of Jay and Nancy (Ellis) Gentry, was carried home on the wings of angels Friday, September 12, 2014. In heaven he will be received by his wonderful grandparents, the late Jim and Mary Lou Gentry and Elmer and Jean Ellis. Jayson’s time here on earth greatly enriched the lives of his parents, family members, and close friends. His happy smile brought cheer and encouragement to those who cared for him daily.
As a young boy, Jayson skipped freely around the yard and liked to jump and strike a tethered ball and chase bubbles drifting in the wind. He attended Cabool Schools while he was physically able and was offered an Honorary Diploma from the School Board in 2005. In the comforts of his home, Jayson loved to toss balls and play with his electronic musical toys. He also loved being outdoors, so he took walks with his family and enjoyed the sights of nature. Jayson also loved taking a car ride and could be seen frequently cruising Cabool with his mother and father.
Tuberous Sclerosis challenged Jayson from birth, both physically and mentally, but he and his family continually confronted the disease head on. They met every challenge and every complication with strength and a positive attitude. As time passed, the ravages of the disease limited his freedom and mobility. Never-the-less, Jayson persisted and overcame many obstacles to bless his family beyond measure. His inspiration will continue in the hearts of many. While his time here on earth was much too short, it is comforting to know that Jayson’s journey into eternity will be one without pain or affliction.
Jayson was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents: Jim and Mary Lou Gentry whom he was able to spend time with while growing up, and Elmer and Jean Ellis who he will meet for the first time in their heavenly reunion. He is survived by his parents Jay and Nancy Gentry of the home, Diana Peabody (aunt) of Cabool, Pam McClenahan (aunt) and husband Jimi of Cabool, Judy Murray (aunt) and husband Wes of Houston, Peggy Lindsey (aunt) and husband Roger of Cabool; several cousins including Boone Peabody, Justin McClenahan, Kyle Horbyk, Kris Horbyk, Ellie Horbyk, and Scott Lindsey. He also leaves behind two special caregivers Tami Storrie and Sherri Woodward as well as other family, friends, and neighbors. [egcfuneralhome.com]
