Mary Lou Gentry, 81, a resident of Cabool, Mo. for over 74 years, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008. She was born on February 27, 1927, to Henry and Glennie Burchett of Humansville and Cedar Co., Mo. She graduated from Cabool High School and attended Southwest Baptist Univeristy. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Producers Creamery. Later, she operated Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home for over 50 years with her husband, Jim Gentry. She was well known for her professionalism and attention to detail in helping countless families deal with the loss of a loved one or a friend. She was a friend to everyone and could talk sports, antiques or business with anyone. Mary Lou never met a stranger and loved to tease with her friends and acquaintances. Family, friends and her community were a great source of pride. She was baptized at the age of nine. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronnie Gentry. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Peggy and Roger Lindsey of Cabool; grandson Scott and Mandy Lindsey of Licking; great-grandson, Carson; her son, Jay and Nancy Gentry; and grandson Jayson, all of Cabool. Memorial services will be Monday, November 3, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., in First Baptist Church of Cabool, preceded by a private family interment in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cabool Cemetery or TCMH Health Care Foundation, c/o Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home, PO Box 708, Cabool, MO 65689.
