Obituary
Mrs. Mollie H. Pierce died at her home, 607 East Pierce street, Sunday afternoon, following a paralytic stroke two weeks ago, aged 78 years. Mrs. Pierce was stricken while visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Graham. She was brought to her home here and had since been confined to her bed. She was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Haller and was born in Circle, Ohio, November 24, 1850. There were eight children in the family and all of them have preceded Mrs. Pierce in death except one brother, T.C. Haller of this city. She came to Adair county with her parents soon after the Civil War, and the family located on a farm now owned by Mr. Keim four miles north of Kirksville, where they lived for many years. After her father's death the family located in Kirksville. She was married to E.R. Pierce, January 1, 1891, and he died April 29, 1911. One son was born to them, Amos Pierce who died Jan. 15, 1926. She is survived by Othal Riddle, whom she took into her home when an infant and with whom she made her home. In addition to near relatives living here, Mrs. Esther Smith, a niece, and Frank and Willis Haller, nephews, were with her at the time of her death. The funeral services were held at the home, 607 East Pierce street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. W.R. Gattis, pastor of the M.E. Church of which she was a member. The body was buried in Llewellyn cemetery. Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Bryan Sunday school when a young woman, and the Bryan quartet, three members of which were Edward Wood, Charley Polley and Miss Haller was very popular at Sunday school picnics.
