LUCY ELLEN WILLIAMS
Mrs. Lucy Ellen Williams Vollmar was born Aug. 1, 1867 in Bollinger County, Missouri. She departed this life on Jan. 8, 1949 at the age of 81 years five months and seven days.
Early in life she was united in marriage to Joseph V. Vollmar. To this union eight children were born. Her husband and four of the children preceded her in death, one having died in the first world war. Mrs. Vollmar was Cabool's only “Gold Star” Mother of the First World War.
It was in and around Cabool she spent the greater part of her life. She was a member of the Christian Church here in Cabool.
The four living children are: Earl Vollmar and Melvin Vollmar of Cabool, Mrs. Ann Akers of Bowling Green, Mo., Mrs. Fern Davis of Chicago, Ill., also there are eleven grand children and ten great grand children, one sister in law, Mrs. Sophia Bullock lives in Creighton, Mo.
Funeral services were held last Tuesday, January 11, at the First Christian Church. Burial was in Cabool Cemetery. Pall Bearers were: Tod Forsythe, Charley Mitchum, Scotty Whittaker, Vern Matherly, Loren Spears, Earl Gobble.
