Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie May Brant, who died Friday evenng at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Sheeley, in this city were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church of which she was a member. Rev. W.M. Duncan, assisted by the pastor, Rev. H.S. Holley, and Rev. J.W. Cunningham, pastor of the Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Holly Cemetery. German Undertaking Co. in charge.
Pallbearers were Newberry Johnson, Major Fred Kelley, Russell Frakes, Hayes Smith, Leyon Earls and Sims Michie.
Mrs. Brant was born May 31, 1868, at Nashville, Ill. At the age of 17 years she joined the Methodist Church at Decatur, Ill., and has always been a true and faithful member of the church of her choice. She was first married to Tom Woolbright, and four children were born to this union, two having preceded her in death. Later she was married to Ike Brant, and four children were born to them, one of whom and the husband have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brant and family moved to this vicinity many years ago, and during her residence here made a host of friends, performing many acts of kindness and giving assitance to her neighbors and friends.
While she had been in ill health for several months and suffered great pain she was always cheerful and patient, taking a deep interest in the welfare of her family and affairs of the community.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Roy Cordell of Paragould, Ark., Mrs. C.C. Cecil, Mrs. Carl Sheeley and Mrs. Robert Strothers, of this city; one son, Everett Woolbright, of Rives, Mo., one brother, Lewis Westman of Centralia, Ill., eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
