John A. McCants, well known resident of this city died Monday at the Blytheville hospital. He had been ill for several days, which later developed into pneumonia.
The deceased was a native of the state of Tennessee and at the time of his death was aged 58 years, 7 months and 3 days. For several years Mr. McCants was a clerk in the Yarbrough grocery. Through his dealings with the public Mr. McCants made a host of friends, who extend sympathy to the bereaved family. He was a member of the Steele I.O.O. F. Lodge.
He was married a few months ago to Mrs. Della Smith, who with a step-daughter, Miss Charlcie Mae McCants, a brother, Frank, of this city and three other brothers of Tennessee survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Baptist Church with Elder Thomas C. Whitfield, of the Church of Christ officiating. The German undertaking Co. had charge of arrangements. Interment was made in the Holly Cemetery.
