Samuel H. Schrader, 68 year old Merchant of Steele, Mo., was killed by the "Dummy" train of the Hall Construction Company last Saturday morning about 6 o'clock. His body was badly mangled and crushed when two cars ran completely over his body. After being run over the body was dragged along the track for a number of feet before the train could be stopped. He is said to have been rather hard of hearing and had a habit of walking with his eyes cast down as though in a deep study and evidently did not look in either direction before crossing the track.
The Schrader family had only recently moved to Steele from Memphis and Mr. Schrader and his son had opened up a retail store.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Steele Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. H.O. Isabell and interment followed at the Holly Cemetery.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Fannie Schrader, a son, Clarence, both of Steele and a sister, Mrs. Ellen J. Goldgarb of Memphis, Tenn.
