Robert Lee Holly, 84, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at the River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born Dec. 30, 1919, in Steele, he was the son of the late Pinky and Nora Hutchins Holly.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele.
Robert was united in marriage to Dean McKinsey on Oct. 7, 1939, in Blytheville, Ark. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Holly leaves one son, Robert Curtis Holly and his wife Sharon, of Hornlake, Miss.; One grandson, Robert Lamar Holly of Southaven, Miss.; One granddaughter, Deana Holly, of Southaven; and One great-grandson, Branden Curtis Holly.
Funeral services for Mr. Holly were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2004 at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with the Rev. Mike Hargraves officiating.
Burial was at the Holly Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Born March 15, 1920, at Blytheville, Mrs. Verlie Uldene Holly died February 9, 1974, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was 53 years old.
The daughter of the late Curtis and Chester Kinsey, Mrs. Holly was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele. She had worked as a waitress in Steele, Hayti, and Caruthersville businesses.
She was married to Robert Holly at Blytheville October 7, 1940, and they had one son.
Mrs. Holly leaves her widower, Robert Holly of Steele; One son, Robert Curtis Holly of Memphis; One grandson, Robert Lamar Holly of Memphis; Two sisters, Mrs. Olan Taylor of Cahokia, Ill., and Mrs. Ravis Harder of Centerville, Ill.; And one half-brother, Johnny Gallant of Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, 1974, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele with the Reverend V. Carl Hickman officiating.
Burial was in the Holly Cemetery at Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
