James Albert Howell, 66, of Staunton, Ill., died Tuesday, February 16, 1999 at his residence.

Born November 14, 1932 in Laflin, Mo., he was the son of Maggie Angle Howell and the late Dewey Howell. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Douglas Howell.

James was united in marriage to Barbara Barnard Howell on July 30, 1955 in Hernando, Miss. She preceded him in death.

A maintenance supervisor for a pipe manufacturer, he served his country in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves his mother, Maggie Howell, of Marianna, Ark.,
One daughter, Regina Hinson, of Staunton;
Two brothers: Dewey Howell of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Michael Howell of Fort Worth, Texas;
Four sisters: Lillian Wood of Lubbock, Texas, Bessie Glenn of Greenbrier, Ark., Pat Burke of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Linda Throwbridge of Barton, Ark., and
Five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Howell were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele, Mo., with Rev. Michael Howell officiating. Rev. Dewey Howell assisted.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Alton Burke, David Burke, Craig Burton, Wade Howell, James Howell and Robert Chrisop.

Mrs. Barbara Louise Howell, 53 of Staunton, Ill., formerly of Steele, died November 18, 1988, at Springfield, Ill. Born January 10, 1935 in Denton, she was the daughter of Walter Ernest and Lear Elizabeth Key Barnard. She was a housewife and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her husband, James Howell of Staunton; one daughter, Mrs. Regina Hinson of Staunton; her mother, Mrs. Lear Barnard of Steele; three brothers, Walter Clay Barnard of Lemay, Mo., Ernest Neil Barnard of Florissant, Mo., and Jadie Barnard of Steele; one sister, Mrs. Charlotte Lane of Hazelwood, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

One brother and one son preceded her in death.

Services were Monday at 11 a.m. at German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, the Rev. Joe Sellers officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dewey and Michael Howell, Alton Burke, Larry Throwbridge, Bill Glinn and James Hinson.
