Velma Lou Rorie was born October 28, 1914, in Rienzi, Mississippi and died May 15, 1983, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was the daughter of the late Neely and H.A. Burchum.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Billy Skinner officiated.
On February 25, 1933, she was united in marriage to Leslie Rorie and to this marriage three sons and one daughter was born.
Mrs. Rorie leaves her sons: Cletis Rorie of St. Louis, Lawrence (Larry) and Loyd Rorie, both of Steele, and daughter, Mrs. Betty Bolin of Springfield, Missouri; Five sisters: Maye Bell Fizzell of Michie, Tennessee, Ester Vanderford of Corinth, Mississippi, Mildred Lambert of Mississippi, Frances Montgomery of Walnut, Mississippi, and Annice Ruth Bridge of Corinth; Two brothers: Milton Burchum of Brandon, Mississippi and Hugh Burchum of Corinth; and Fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were J.W. Rinehart, Bobby Hale, Virgil Davis, Luther Howell, Benny Jones, and Pat Bishop.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
