Wife of R M Ringo
1847 - 1907

Quintilla T. Haynes was born February 24th, 1847, in Cherry Grove, Knox County, Illinois, departed this life June 8, 1907.

The deceased was united in marriage Dec. 22, 1869, to R.M. Ringo. To this union there were born four children, three of whom are living. One passed away in early life, Sept. 29, 1876.

While yet a young woman, Mrs. Ringo was hopefully converted and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Kirksville, under the ministry of the Reverend George W. Sharp, who still remains a citizen of Kirksville, a beloved friend of the family and who assisted in the funeral services. Mrs Ringo was a woman of remarkable Christian character, one who loved and studied her Bible and was unusually well acquainted with its contents. Her Christian life was one of consistent walk and conversation. She loved her church and was devoted to it, but more she loved her Savior, and could triumphantly say, "I know whom I have believed." During the long months of suffering, and often intense pain, not a murmur escaped her lips, not a complaint of any kind. When she was informed of the nature of her illness and that, in all probability, it would end fatally, there was no fear shown nor distress manifested, but a calm triumphant resignation to the will of her God. Not that she was anxious to go and leave her loved ones, for she once said, "I have much to live for and would be glad, if it was God's will, to remain with my family." But God's will was her will, and patiently and submissively she accepted whatever her Heavenly Father had in store for her. During the long months of waiting until the very last her mind was as bright and clear as ever. Her Bible, as long as she could hold it, was her constant companion. It was always within reach. She delighted to have her pastor and others call to see her, and read and pray with her. She liked to speak of Heaven, of her Savior, and of the joy that was in store for her soon being "Forever with the Lord."

She was an ideal mother, a beloved and devoted companion and a true and constant friend who was held in the very highest esteem by all who knew her. She was possessed of profound and positive convictions and lived conscientiously and faithfully her convictions. The passing away of this friend was only the advent of the soul into the Home of Glory.

The funeral service was conducted from the home Monday afternoon, June 10, by the Reverend W.C. Templeton, her pastor, assisted by Rev. G.W. Sharp. A quartette choir rendered very beautiful and appropriate music. A very large concourse of people were present, much more than filling the house. The minister spoke from John 14 chapter, first three verses, on "The Home of the Soul.["] The floral offerings were very many and very beautiful. The interment was in Forest Park cemetery, where, until the morning of the resurrection, was laid all that was mortal of this elect woman, esteemed and beloved by a very large circle of friends. The sorrowing husband and daughters have the profound sympathy of a multitude of friends in this their hour of trial and affliction.
