Services for Mrs. Moorman On Saturday

Funeral services for Eugenia R. Moorman, 85, of 720 E. Scott, will be held Saturday afternoon at four o'clock in the Funeral Chapel of Davis & Davis. The Rev. Ralph M. G. Smith will conduct the services. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Forest Cemetery.

Mrs Moorman died Thursday morning at 10:20 in a Kirksville hospital.

The daughter of Richard Major and Quintilla Tennessee (Haynes) Ringo, she was born at Kirksville on March 21, 1884. On Dec. 12, 1905 [should be 1906], in Kirksville, she was married to Leonidus [should be Leonidas] A. Moorman who preceded her in death on January 19 [should be January 9], 1913.

Surviving are one son, Retired Col. Richard Moorman of the United States Army, El Paso, Tex.; two grandchildren, Sandra M. Hoffman of El Paso and Richard R. Moorman, Jr. of Alexandria, Va., and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Moorman.

Mrs. Moorman was reared in Kirksville where she attended public schools and graduated from the Kirksville Normal School. She attended the University of Missouri, the University of Colorado and received her Master's Degree from the University of Iowa.

Following her marriage she resided in Marceline where her husband was superintendent of schools. While living there Mr. and Mrs. Moorman were next door neighbors to the late Walt Disney's family.

Mrs. Moorman taught for 27 years in Kirksville High School and during the summer months taught in the Teachers College. Before her retirement in 1952 she taught in the Higbee High School.

Mrs. Moorman was an honored guest at the dedication of the Walt Disney Park and Walt Disney School in Marceline. She was also an honored guest of the City of Marceline in September 1968 when the Walt Disney commemmorative [sic] stamp was issued.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kirksville and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former member of Sojourners.
