Elizabeth Smoyer was born in Greenville, Mercer County, Pa., April 26th, 1839. Moved to Adair Co., Mo., in 1856 where she has lived till the day of her death. She was married to John T. Rowlison July 1st, 1858. To them twelve children were born of whom nine with her husband preceded her to the better land. She united with the church when a young woman, and has been a faithful member of the Presbyterian church in this place for more than 30 years. Her family duties with an unusual amount of sickness and personal affliction prevented her from taking an active part in church work.

On March 18, 1901, she was called to her reward, aged 62 years, 10 months and 20 days. She leaves three daughters to mourn her loss, Mrs. Dora Quinn, Misses Alice and Eva. Mrs. Quinn lives 14 miles in the country and was unable to attend the funeral on account of sickness. Misses Alice and Eva lived with their mother. Mrs. Rowlison has three brothers, two in Pa., and one in Iowa. The funeral services were conducted by pastor James Aikin Smith Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the home of the deceased. The remains were interred in the city cemetery by the side of her loved ones who had gone on before. The fatherless and motherless daughters have the sympathy of the entire community.
