Mrs. Susan S. Kellogg, wife of Warren Kellogg, died at the family home, northeast of the city limits Saturday afternoon, aged 70 years, 11 months and 4 days. Mrs. Kellogg, whose maiden name was Susan S. Kellam, was born at Hancock, New York, October 16, 1848, and was married to Warren J. Kellogg, November 15, 1873. To this union seven children were born, six sons and one daughter. Her husband and five children survive her. The surviving children are James of Cleveland, Ohio, Charles George, Fred and Emma Kellogg, who reside on the old homestead. Mr. and Mrs. Kellogg came to Adair county from Pennsylvania forty years ago, and two years later purchased a part of the John T. Smith homestead with the fine brick residence, and for thirty-eight years had made it their home. Mrs. Kellogg was converted in girlhood and united with the M.E. church in her native state. She was a devoted Bible student, and her beautiful christian character made her the light of her home and endeared her to friends and neighbors. The funeral took place from the home Monday afternoon. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Ward M. Baker. Burial in Forest cemetery by the side of her two sons who had preceeded [sic] her in death.
