------------

Night Marshal Geo. R. Heaberlin died of paralysis at his home, 1507 South Boundary street Wednesday night aged 55 years. He was born in Kirksville, and the house he was born in still stands on South First street. Besides his wife, he leaves ten children [only nine are listed]. They are, Mrs. Eunice Kevitt, Harisonville [sic], Mo.; Mrs. Mae Johnston, Carrollton, Ky.; Augusta Heaberlin, Kirksville; Everett, of Higbee; Leonard, of Kansas City; Freeman, Carrollton, Ky.; Theodore, George and Claude, of Kirksville. Mr. Heaberlin had lived a life of service and self sacrifice. He was one of nature's noblemen, and his ideas of justice and right were taught to his large and splendid family of boys and girls. In his capacity of night marshal, the city never had a better and more reliable officer. Funeral took place from the home Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial in Forest cemetery.
