Thelma Sparks, 100, of Frankford died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday at Frankford Presbyterian Church with Joe Siefkas officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Frankford.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m., Friday at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
She was born Feb. 10, 1912 in rural Pike County, the daughter of Robert and Louise Wright Cash. She married Lonnie Sparks on Sept. 10, 1935. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1995.
Survivors include son Bob Sparks and wife, Shirley of Frankford; a daughter, Mary Brown and husband, Tom of Frankford; grandchildren, Brad Sparks, Steven Sparks, Brian Sparks and wife, Carrie, Ed Brown and wife, Beth and Alan Brown and wife, Theresa; great-grandchildren, Brice Sparks, Molley Sparks, Josh Sparks, Lauren Sparks, Brylie Sparks, Brinley Sparks, James Alan Brown, Andrea Chipman and husband, Bucky, Casey Brown and Alex Brown; great-great grandchildren, Cale and Kaitlyn Chipman; a niece, Johnita Dowhower and husband, Alan.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Cash.
Thelma graduated from Frankford High School and Hannibal-LaGrange College. She also attended Kirksville College. She taught rural schools for six years.
She as a member for the Frankford Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, was an elder and a member of the missionary for many years. She was a member of the Rocky Point Extension Club and Community Center.
Serving as pallbearers were Brad Sparks, Steven Sparks, Brian Sparks, Ed Brown, Alan Brown and Frank Noel.
