Celeste Bernice Williamson, formerly of Fulton and Frankford, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. She was a resident of Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, Mo.

Mrs. Williamson was born March 13, 1916, near Fulton, Mo., to Lonnie James and Clara Estes Wyatt.

She married Roy C. Williamson on July 11, 1936. Roy preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1994.

Also preceding her in death were her son, Larry Jay Williamson; two brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lucas (Jesse), residing in Hannibal, MO.; one daughter-in-law, Leona Williamson (Larry, deceased), residing in St. James, Mo.; and one son, James Williamson of Springfield, Mo. Mrs. Williamson was the grandmother of 10 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bernice was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her and Roy’s tire business for many years. In retirement, she loved traveling with Roy, and they spent many winters in Florida. She was a self-taught artist and enjoyed oil painting, needlework, quilting and crafts. Other hobbies included shelling on Florida beaches and reading her Bible.

Her husband gave her credit for “pulling” the toughest duty in World War II. She remained at home in Fulton with three youngsters under the age of 5, waiting for his return. They were married 58 years.

Mrs. Williamson joined the First Baptist Church in Fulton, Mo., as a young lady. Bernice was later active in the New Testament Christian Church of Keokuk, Iowa, and the Baptist Church of Panacea, Fla. In her retirement years, she was a member of the Frankford Christian Church in Frankford, Mo.
