MABLE N. SHOUSE
---Mabel N. Shouse, 89, of LaPlata, died at 7:23 Wednesday night, April 4, 1979, in the LaPlata Nursing Home where she had been a patient for five years.
---Born March 24, 1890, east of LaPlata, in Macon County, she was the daughter of George William and Lela Ives Newton. On December 6, 1914, in Adair County, she was married to Jess E. Shouse who preceded her in death on November 14, 1947. Also preceding her in death were one son, Dale Shouse who was killed in October, 1942, in a plane crash while serving with the United States Armed Forces; one daughter, Wilma Sanphillipo on August 2, 1977; two sisters and three brothers.
---Surviving are one son, Raymond Shouse of Rt. 3, Macon; one daughter, Mrs. John (Frances) Sampson of Rt. 2, Atlanta; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lola Woods of LaPlata, Mary Crawford of LaPlata, Edna Yetter of Castro Valley, California, and Lucille Newton of Dunsmuir, California, and two brothers, Kenneth Newton of La Hambra, California, and Dr. Carroll Newton of Ashland, Oregon.
---Mrs. Shouse was a life-long resident of the LaPlata area.
---She was a member of the LaPlata Community Presbyterian Church and the Kings Daughters class of the church.
---Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 6, 1979, at 1:30 in the LaPlata Community Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Carl Hoff conducted the services. Burial was in the LaPlata Cemetery.
---Bearers were: Erby Francis, Noel Crawford, Bob Crawford, Henry Eitel, Cleo Hunter, Lee Shouse, Charles M. Lindquist and Glen Gudenhus.

---Jess E. Shouse, fifty-six, a farmer living northeast of La Plata, died in a Kirksville hospital Friday morning. He had been in failing health the past four months.
---Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Fred L. Hudson. Interment was in the La Plata cemetery.
---Mr. Shouse, son of Allen H. and Mary M. Shouse, was born February 2, 1891 in Adair County near Wilson(town).
---He was married to Mabel N. Newton on December 6, 1914. Two sons and two daughters were born to them.
---His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
---Dale E., the oldest son, died in the service of his country on October 12, 1942 in the Hawaiian Territory.
---He is survived by his wife, one son, Raymond C. and one daughter, Lucille F. of the home and one daughter, Mrs. Wilma M. Sanphillipo and a granddaughter, Mary Ann, both of Baltimore, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Thela Shouse of Sunnyside, Washington; two brothers, Earl of La Plata and Ernest of Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Emmons of Patterson, California and Mrs. John Wandell of Gibbs, several nieces and nephews.
