PHYLIS JEAN BEAGLEY
Phylis Jean Beagley, 68 of Salinas, California, passed away Friday, Mar. 28, 2008 at the Mercy Hospital in Folsom, California, after a courageous fight with COPD.
Born Jan. 21, 1940, west of Gifford, Missouri, she was daughter of Robert and Marjorie (Pyle) Mossbarger. On Aug. 31, 1958 in La Plata, Missouri, she married Dale William Beagley, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2007. Also preceding her in death was her father; and one son, Jeffrey.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Robin Beagley of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Brett and Lise Beagley of Folsom, California; her mother, Marjorie Mossbargerr of La Plata, Missouri; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Bob Morrison of Grandview, Missouri, Karen and Ron Bragg of La Plata, Missouri, and Kathy and Paul Perry of La Plata, Missouri; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jennifer and Breanna of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Emily and Braden of Folsom, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Phylis was a 1957 graduate of La Plata High School. She worked in banking for over 25 years, first for Chase Manhattan Bank in Guam and then for Wells Fargo Bank in Salinas, California until her retirement. In addition to spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren, Phylis enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking and doing "fix-it" projects around the house. In 1996 she bravely triumphed over a battle with lung cancer, undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. She was cancer-free for 12 years before her passing. Phylis will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, wisdom and wit. She was a kind and thoughtful soul on this earth and her passing leaves an empty space in many lives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Apr. 5, 2008 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.

DALE WILLIAM BEAGLEY
Dale William Beagley, 69 of Salinas, California, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after complications from a brief battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 4, 1938 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, he was the son of Fred and Wilma (DeLong) Beagley. On Aug. 31, 1958 in La Plata, Missouri, he married Phylis Mossbarger, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Robin Beagley of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Brett and Lise Beagley of Folsom, California; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jennifer and Breanna of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Emily and Braden of Folsom, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeffrey.
Dale was a 1956 graduate of La Plata High School and later earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. He went on to pursue a career in teaching and coaching. His career took him to Hanford, California, Guam and finally to Salinas where he retired in 1999. A beloved teacher, coach and mentor, Dale had a passion for encouraging others to succeed and took joy in following their journey in life. After retiring he pursued his other joys which included golfing and going to car shows in his 1968 Mustang Fastback. He cherished his family above all and loved spending time with his sons and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
