Funeral services for Cledyth Whitfield Markum, 88, West Plains, were Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Markum died at 6:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at NHC HealthCare. He was born Dec. 6, 1920, at Edenburg, Mo., to Claude W. and Edna E. Chaney Markum. On Oct. 13, 1946, he was married at Kansas City, Mo., to Margaret Lenora Baker who preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 1986. On Dec. 14, 1993, Mr. Markum was married at Alton, Mo., to Dora C. Scaggs. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. Before his retirement, Mr. Markum was an engineer with Xerox Corporation, Rochester, N.Y. He attended the United Methodist Church Open Door Worship Center. He is survived by his wife, Dora Markum, West Plains; six children, Michael Markum of Springfield, Mo., Don Markum of Caulfield, Mo., Karry Doug Markum of West Plains, Nola Markum, Gail Ghosis of state of New York and Rick Mayer of Blue Springs, Mo.; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara. His parents; first wife; one son, James Lynn Markum; and one brother, Garland Markum, precede him in death. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Dora Markum, 94, West Plains, died September 29, 2014 at NHC Healthcare in West Plains.
Dora Markum, daughter of the late Guy Scaggs and Orbrie Crossnoe Scaggs, was born September 9, 1920 in Valliant, Oklahoma and died September 29, 2014 at the age of 94 years.
She was united in marriage to Cledyth Markum, who preceded her in death in 2009.
She is survived by two children, Donna Marie Low and Robert Joseph Grollmes; one sister, Mary Scaggs, Everett, Washngton; one sister-in-law, Jane Scaggs, Peace Valley, Missouri; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, and four sisters.
She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services will he held Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains. [carterfuneralhomeinc.com, Sep 29, 2014]
