Mrs. Etta Pearl Pulse, 87, a resident of the Hostel House, Edina, formerly of Novelty, died Friday, October 7, 1977 at 3:15 p.m. in the home of a son, Dale Allen, of Centerville, Ark., where she had been visiting.

She was born Dec. 23, 1889, in Decatur County, Ill. [there is no Decatur County in Illinois], the daughter of Samuel M. and Mary Musselman Boyer. On Sept. 7, 1910, she was married to Fred Allen at Leon, Ia. He died August 23, 1955. In 1959 she married Herschel Pulse and he died May 18, 1973.

Surviving are her two sons, Dale Kenneth Allen, Centerville, Ark., Forest Ray Allen of Phoenix, Az; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Verneta) Mesmer, Bethel; Mrs. Harold (Voncille) Miller, Plevna; four step-sons, Harold Pulse, Robert Pulse, Ben Pulse, all of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Ronald Pulse of Sundance, Wyo; 15 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. She lived several years in Iowa before moving to Greentop and Kirksville and for the past 25 years had lived in the Novelty Community.

She was a member of the Novelty Christian Church. Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel, Edina, with Rev. Carroll Kakac of Fairfield, Ill., officiating. Burial was in Maple Hills Cemetery, Kirksville.
