Max Elmer Mulford, 79, of Kirksville, Misouri died Saturday June 1, 1996 at Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville.
The son of Robert Johnson and Laura Ethel (McCain) Mulford, he was born January 24, 1917 at the family home in Spickard, Missouri. On June 14, 1941 in East St. Louis, Illinois he maried Lois Madaline Carmichael who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael Mulford and wife Karen of LaPlata, Missouri, Kent Mulford and wife Tamara of Fairview Heights, Illinois and Scott Mulford and wife Marlene of Springfield, Illinois; one daughter, Patricia Miles and husband Frank of St. Petersburg, Florida; one brother, Herbert Mulford of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister, Leila Bondurant of Kirksville, Misouri, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in deary by his parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Mr. Mulford was raised in Spickard, Missouri. He was a 1934 graduate of Kirksville High School. He attended Washington University at St. Louis and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a B.S. in Education.
From 1941 to 1945 he served with th United States Army in Graves Registration.
Mr. Mulford owned Peebles Heating and Sheet Metal in East St. Louis for a number of years. In 1974 he moved to Kirksville and was employed as Chief of Custodians at Northeast Missouri State University until his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion and Kirksville Noon Lions Club.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 4, 1996 at the First United Methodist Church in Kirksville. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery.
