Virgil Joseph Kinney, 70, dies at a Kirksville, Mo., hospital October 10, 1976. He had been hospitalized since October 3, 1976, and in failing health for over a year.

Virgil was born June 23, 1906, in Scotland County, near Memphis, Mo. He was the son of Chesley C. and Daisy Gertrude Bowman Kinney.

June 22, 1935, he married Grace Jackson in Kirksville, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are one son and one daughter, one brother, and one sister, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant child, one sister and one grandson.

Kinney had been employed at Ruby Green Seed Co., Inc, for 25 years. Later, he worked at the Shrine Club until his retirement one year ago.

He was a member of the Bullion United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men of the church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 13, 1976, with the Rev. Beryl Grogg, pastor of the Bullion United Methodist Church and the Rev. Glynn Campbell pastor of the First Free Will Baptist Church in charge of the services. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Kirksville, Mo. Casket bearers were Raymond Shahan, Kay Ratcliff, Truman Wingle, Glen Green, Harold Prapst and Frederick Hamer.
