Mary Dorsie Wait, 89, of Millard, Missouri, passed away Monday morning (May 16, 1994) at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.
The daughter of Warren and Hattie Wallace Wolf, she was born December 11, 1904 in LaPlata, Missouri.
On February 17, 1924 in LaPlata, Missouri she was united in marriage to Warren Cody and to this union four children, were born. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1945. On October 30, 1966 in Kirksville, Missouri she married Porter Baldwin who preceded her in death on December 19, 1972. On June 5, 1975 in Millard, Missouri she married Olen Wait who preceded her in death on June 29, 1982.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Claude Gail Cody on April 19, 1976; one daughter, Fairy Arlene "Cody" Crowder and two grandsons, Larry and Gary Crowder on May 1, 1952 and on brother, Clarence Wolf.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Bea Cody of Millard, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ilene and James Baldwin of Millard, Missouri; five stepchildren including Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Seidt of Huntsville, Missouri, Mrs. Gene (Dorthy) Zimmerman of Koekuk, Iowa and Ralph Baldwin of Macon, Missouri; one son-in-law, and wife Bert and Mary Crowder of Cypress, California; one daughter-in-law, Jolene Cody of Kirksville, Missouri' one sister-in-law, Garnett Wolf of LaPlata, Missouri; six grandchildren, Claudene Cable, Anna Lou Pisano, Stephen Cody, Mary Jane Kiefer, Zinda Cody and Greg Cody; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three foster grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wait was a life-long resident of Macon and Adair counties and received her education in the Oklahoma Country School. She had been a farmer, mother, public paper hanger, store clerk, carpener and much more. She was known by her friends as a jack of all trades and master of most.
Dorsie was one of the first five trustees elected when Millard was incorporated as a village in 1976 and served on the board for many years.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Thursday (May 19, 1994) at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. The Reverend Frank Hall will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Dianthe Cable, organist, and Bob Umbarger, soloist. The selections will be, "Peace in the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset." Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouril
Pallbearers will be Bob-Umbarger, Leroy Scott, Keith Wait, Craig Robertson, Truman Swingle and Leroy Yadon.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (May 18, 1994) at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from seven to nine o'clock at the Funeral Home.
