Inez Thomas, 68 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (August 3, 1005) at her home in Kirksville.

The daughter of Joshua James and Bonnie (Round) Beall, she was born on November 24, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri. On May 24, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri she was united in marriage to John (Jock) Thomas, who preceded her in death on June 17, 1997. Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, John Thomas, Jr.; sister, Fern Maize on January 3, 1994 and two sisters in infancy.

Inez is survived by her children; daughter, Debee Westby and husband Kenneth of Edgerton, Wisconsin; son, Aaron Thomas and fiancee Jackie Geller of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren, Nieda Henson and husband Bill, Melody Henson and husband Jeremiah, Nalynn Nimsomboon and friend Ashley Kading, Miranda Thomas and Matthew Thomas all of Rockford, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Henson and Aaron Michael Thomas; sisters, Jean Stewart of Kirksville, Missouri, Libby Christy of Kirksville, Missouri, Jenny Stewart of Kirksville, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

She received her education in the Kirksville public schools. After marriage, she and her husband were in the US Air Force and were stationed in Japan, Texas, and Colorado. Following retirement in 1972, they returned to Kirksville where she was employed as a waitress at Manhattan Restaurant and Shamrock Inn Restaurant. In 1979 she and her husband moved to Rockford, Illinois where she was employed with a cleaning service. After her husband's death she returned to Kirksville and worked as a receptionist for Community Action Agency until her health failed. Her hobbies were bingo, cards, bowling, boating and camping. Her special pets were her dog Cassie and her cockatiel Dennis. She especially enjoyed her time with family and grandchildren. She was a member of Curves in Kirksville and Women of the Moose of Kirksville Chapter 824 where she held the higher degree of the Academy of Friendship.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday (August 8, 2005) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri, with Brother Fred Baker officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Michael Maize, Eddie McKim, Jim Stewart, Terry Stewart, George Mills and Jack Maize, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Robert Mills and Dave Coy.

Visitation will be Sunday (August 7, 2005) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
