John Thomas Baker, 82, of Green Castle, formerly of Kirksville, passed away Saturday (June 11, 1983) in Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
...The son of James Thomas and Minnie Bell Wyatt Baker, he was born November 3, 1900, in Higbee, Missouri. In 1918 he married Sylvia Marie Carter who preceded him in death in 1956. On May 17, 1969, in Kahoka, he married Lucille Novinger who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Annabelle Prather of Kirksville and Lois Sayre of Milan; three sons, Jack D. Baker of Ogden, Utah; Robert L. Baker of Lancaster, California and James A. Baker of Kirksville; one step-daughters, Clara McCann of Kahoka; two step-sons, Charles Edward Powell of Kirksville and Gary Lynn Powell of Green Castle; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Rosevelt Smith of Hannibal and Ollie Skidmore of Des Moines, Iowa.
...He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Norma Jean Spencer and two sisters, Lillian Morris and Dorothy Mandina.
...Mr. Baker spent most of his life in the Kirksville area where he owned and operated Yellow Cab Company for several years. Nine years ago he moved to Green Castle to make his home.
...Funeral services will be held at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon (June 15, 1983) in the chapel of Foster-Fohn Me orial Home. The Rev. James Rardin will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Helen Brokish and Elmer Risher, singing "In The Garden" and "Old Rugged Cross." They will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist.
...Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery. Bearers will be his grandsons. Friends may call at.....
