George Wesley Adkins, 91, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday morning (March 25, 1995) at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.

The son of William Franklin and Katherine Mary Mabis Adkins he was born September 14, 1903 in the Mulberry community in Adair County, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Lucille Adams and to this union two daughters were born. He later married Regina Crawford and to this union two sons were born.

Surviving are his wife, Regina Adkins of Kirksville, Missouri; two sons, Bill Adkins and fiancee Kathy Hale of Kirksville, Missouri and Bud Adkins and wife Ronda of Atlanta, Missouri; two daughters, Colleen Hensley of Kirksville, Missouri and Helen Riley and husband, Basil of Kirksville, Missouri; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters; one grandson; one great-grandson and a son-in-law.

George retired after forty-five years of employment with the International Shoe Factory in Kirksville and was well known in the area as being an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.

He was a member of the Mulberry Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday (March 28, 1995) at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. The Reverend Virgil Jones will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Dianthe Cable, organist and Carlyle Walker, soloist. The selections will be "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "God Understands." Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Herb Willans, Don Reardon, Andrew Mihalevich, Albert Kellison, Dan Willis and Paul Harrison.

Honorary bearers will be Shawn Adkins, Terry Hensley, Dale Ely, Wendell Hamilton, Donald Wayman and Rex Cooley.

Visitation is in progress at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville and the family will receive friends from seven to nine o'clock this evening in the chapel of the Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
