Helen Louise Huff, 80, Springfield, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000 in St. John's Regional Health Center.
She was born on Sept. 10, 1920 in Kirksville the daughter of E. G. (Ted) and Nellie Mae Hull. Helen was a retired educator and guidance counselor. She was an associate professor of Guidance and Counseling at Southwest Missouri State University, teacher and guidance counselor of Greenwood Elementary School and Teacher at Benton Elementary school and other area Kirksville elementary schools. She also directed the Kirksville area Head Start Program in the 1960's. She was an active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Colonists, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Springfield Boys and Girls Club. Helen was a member of the National Avenue Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband, O. Richard Huff; son Dr. Richard G. Huff and his wife, Patricia; grandson Brett Richard Huff, and brother Tom Huff.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in National Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Roger Ray officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Thursday in Maple Hills Cemetery, Kirksville.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
