Graveside services for Hazel Summers, 86, Mountain Grove, Mo., were held Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. She was born June 3, 1921, near West Plains, Mo., to Emerson Lee and Eula Fay Alspaugh Heselton. On Sept. 12, 1951, she was married near the Elk Creek Community to Ralph Summers. Mrs. Summers had been a teacher in the schools of Howell County, and before her retirement, owned and operated a dress shop in Mountain Grove for 20 years. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Summers, of the family home; two brothers, Alvin Heselton and wife, Wanda and Harold Heselton and wife, Hope; one sister, Wanda Clark and husband, Kenneth; one brother-in-law, Eldon "Buddy" Summers and wife, Lucille; two sisters-in-law, Dortha Lea Hambelton and friend, John Tom Dixon, and Oleta Summers; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, one brother, one sister, and two brothers-in-law precede her in death. The family requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Men's Club or Charity of Choice and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
