Mrs. Betty Sue Callens, 30, wife of Robert Callens, died last Friday at Bakersfield, California after a short illness. She had been hospitalized a week prior to her death.

Betty was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Patterson and made her home in Steele all of her life before she and Robert moved to New Mexico and California. She graduated from Steele High School.

The body was brought to the German Funeral Home in Steele Tuesday. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Steele Church of Christ with Bro. Norman Fultz officiating, assisted by Bro. F.D. Northern. Interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband and two children, Jerry and Sonna J. of Bakersfield; her parents and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Hastings, all of Steele; another sister, Mrs. Naomi Britton of McGehee, Ark., and two brothers, Melvin Patterson of Ripley, Tennessee and Ralph Patterson of Memphis.

Active pallbearers were Boyce Gooden, Alva Cleveland, Vernon Dobbins, Bill Broderick, Hobart Poteet and Neeley Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers were J.C. Kinningham, Bro. Floyd Henry, Charlie Bates, Floyd Smith, Jim Ahern, Harold Jones, Paul Frame, Sims Michie, P.E. Pender, Thelbert Bishop, Frank Huffman, E.S. Britton, Bill Sheeley, and Wade Hollenbeck.
