George M. Ladd, 85, of Cooter, died May 3, 1988 at River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele. Born June 29, 1902 in Holland, he was the son of James Elbert and Emma Williams Ladd. He was a retired plumber and electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Watson Ladd of Cooter; One son, Gene Ladd of Hayti; Two daughters, Mrs. Shirley German of Steele and Mrs. Joanna Burton of Tulsa; One sister, Mrs. Irene Owens of Pontotoc, Miss.; Eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were May 5 at John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Steele, the Rev. Sherel Jetton officiating with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethel D. Ladd, 84, died Friday, May 1, 1992, at River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele, Mo.

Born December 16, 1907 at Tuliah, Okla., she was a daughter of the late James Atlas Watson and Emma Denton Watson.

She and George M. Ladd were united in marriage on February 27, 1926 in Blytheville, Ark. He preceded her in death May 3, 1988.

A member of the Church of Christ in Steele, she was a wife, mother, and a homemaker.

Mrs. Ladd leaves a son, Gene Ladd of Hayti, Mo.; two daughters: Mrs. Shirley German of Steele and Mrs. Joanna Burton of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters: Mrs. Ova Pritchard and Mrs. Altheria Gordon, both of Lepanto, Ark., and Mrs. Marge Callahan of Oxnard, Calif.; two brothers: Edwin Watson of Marked Tree, Ark. and Albert Watson of Lepanto; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ladd were held Sunday, May 3, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Steele with Mr. Bill Brown officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Darrell Edwards, W.M. Barnes, Riley Rhodes, Kenneth Lawler, Tom Allbritton, and Gervis Capps.
