Emma Williams Ladd, born August 22, 1877 at Dyersburg, Tenn., died July 19, 1962 at Pontotoc Community Hospital in Pontotoc, Miss.
Services were held Friday, July 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter, Rev. Howard King officiating.
Mrs. Ladd was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church of Cooter.
She was united in marriage to James Albert Ladd in 1896 at Tiptonville, Tenn.
Mrs. Ladd lived in Cooter from 1914 to 1934. She moved then to Pontotoc, Miss., and returned to Cooter in 1948, living there until 1956 when she returned to Pontotoc where she resided until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ladd, in 1953 and one daughter, Minnie, who died at the age of 12.
She leaves three sons, Herman and Charlie of Memphis, and George of Cooter; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Owens of Pontotoc, and Mrs. Bertha Fitts of Memphis; a sister, Mrs. Lee Haggenmaster of Memphis; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Darrell Edwards, Buck Laster, Homer Wilson, Lawrence Coleman, Floyd Wagster, and Paul Cooter.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Steele, with John W. German Mt. Zion Service.
