Funeral services for Frank Wilson Ball, 96, West Plains, were Thursday, April 8, 2010, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Murray officiating. Mr. Ball died at 2:25 a.m., Monday, April 5, 2010, at his home. He was born Nov. 15, 1913, at Brandsville, Mo., to John and Cora Ball. On Jan. 18, 1952, Mr. Ball was married at Mammoth Spring, Ark., to Lena Clark, who preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 1989. On Nov. 2, 1993, he was married at West Plains, Mo., to Vergie Rae Loftis Brotherton, who preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 2009. Mr. Ball served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart as a result of wounds received in action. After the war, he worked for the Skinner Brothers as a mason and he loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Ball was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He used to enjoy walking all over town and especially down to the car wash and around the neighborhood. Mr. Ball had attended the Curry Street and Central Church of Christ and more recently attended the United Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by three children, Jr. Smith, wife, Mary Ann, Gordon Warren, wife, Patty and Ransom Brotherton; six grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Stephen Smith, Debbie Wilkes, Darren Warren, Darcy Arnold and Ryan Brotherton; three half-brothers; three half-sisters; and many nieces and nephews. His parents, his wives, five brothers and six sisters precede him in death. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
