WASHBURN, Mo. - Velma Clement Stephens, 84, of Washburn died June 28, 1998, at her home.

She was born March 16, 1914, in Washburn to James Franklin and Sarah Margaret Mahurin Ellis.

She was a former employee of Cobbs-Vantress Laundry and the House of Webster. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Washburn and was a life resident of the area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Stephens, on Jan. 10, 1987; one son; two daughters.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Morgan of Perryton, Texas, Flaunita Howell and Rosella McKinney, both of Pea Ridge, Juanita Stephens of Washburn and Barbara Morgan of Okmulgee, Okla.; two sons, Wendell Stephens of Rocky Comfort, Mo., and Willis Stephens of Washburn; three brothers, Lemmie Ellis of Exeter, Mo., and Lloyd Ellis and James Ellis, both of Washburn; one sister, Vivian O'Donnell of Jacket, Mo.; 32 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge with the Rev. Lenear Rose officiating. Burial will be in Dent Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
