Funeral services for Socorro Maria Munoz, 85, West Plains, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Munoz passed away at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home after a long struggle with Parkinson's. She was born January 27, 1926 at Wichita, Kansas to Jose and Felicitas Frausto Sandoval and spent most of her youth in Laramie and Cheyenne, Wyoming. On November 27, 1947, she was married at Wichita, Kansas to Anacleto Munoz who preceded her in death on January 4, 1990. The family lived in Wichita where she raised her three children. Not wanting to left behind, Mrs. Munoz earned her college degree and nursing diploma in 1977, along with her classmate and daughter, Phyllis. She excelled in her profession, earning additional certification in coronary intensive care and working at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, In 1985, Mrs. Munoz resettled in the Pottersville, Missouri area, working at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains and later at St. John's Regional Healthcare in Springfield, Missouri. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, photography and traveling; she dedicated her life to her family and her profession. Mrs. Munoz was of the Catholic faith. She is survived by her daughters & her son. Her parents, and husband of 43 years, preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.
