Funeral services for Mayme Sims, 81, of West Plains were held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sims died 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, in Brooke Haven Nursing Home. She was born April 14, 1925, in Rover, Mo., to Harlin Albert and Ethel Carrie Judd Vonallmen. She was married to Troy Griffith, who preceded her in death; she was later married to Granville Vandiver, who preceded her in death.
For 30 years, Mrs. Sims was employed at International Shoe Company and before her retirement, she worked at Marathon. She was a member of the Assembly of God.
Mrs. Sims was a loving mother and grandmother and her life was centered around her family.
She is survived by three children, Mary Ann Collins and her husband, Lonnie, Tamara Stubbs, and her husband, Gary, and Stanley Vandiver and his wife, Beverly, of West Plains; four stepchildren, Granville Vandiver Jr. and his wife, MaryAnn, of Renton, Wash., Vera Webber of Ohio, Susie Priester and her husband, Michael, of Phoenix, Ariz., and George Vandiver and his wife, Deanna; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Johnson, Kevin McCracken and his wife, Vicky, Kerry Bussell and her husband, Bucky, Brandon Sims and his wife, Heather, Zack Stubbs, Eric Vandiver and Jordan Vandiver; 11 step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Vonallmen and his wife, Allena, of West Plains and Lester Vonallmen and his wife, Alma, of San Bruno, Calif.; four sisters, Berta Harris, Dorothy Patillo and her husband, Russell, Jewell Hopkins of West Plains and Murlene White and her husband, Frank, of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husbands, one infant daughter, twin granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, one step-grandson, one brother, and three sisters preceded her in death.Burial was held at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. [robertsondrago.com]
