An Oak Ridge Community resident, James H. Wilferd, died May 28 at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti at the age of 89.
A retired farmer, Mr. Wilferd was born March 28, 1883, at Caruthersville. He was the son of the late Norvel and Florence Wilferd.
He leaves his widow, Stella Wilferd, Steele; three sons, James Wilferd, Paul Wilferd, both of Chicago, and Bobby Wilferd, Steele; three daughters, Irene Con Jolka, Chicago, Melba Inmon, Oaklawn, Ill., and Mary Wilferd, Steele; one sister, Cloe Kenley, Holland ; ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 30, at 4:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. Robert Haden officiating.
Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.

Stella Mae Wilferd Ham, 79, of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
Born January 29, 1920 at Alleene, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Walter Armstrong and Jessie Odell Rhodes Armstrong.
On March 30, 1938, she was united in marriage to J.H. Wilferd, who preceded her in death. Then she married Hubert Ham, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons; Bobby and Henry Eugene Wilferd.
She was a former member of the Holland Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ham leaves two daughters: Melba Inman of Blytheville and Mary Casper of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Thomas Lawton Armstrong, of Ward, Ark.; and one sister, Francis Beck, of Magazine, Ark.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ham were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 1999, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Earl Dunavant officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery near Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
