James Stanley White, a citizen of this community for 40 years passed away Tuesday at the John Gaston Hospital in Memphis. Mr. White went to Memphis about a week ago for a visit with relatives. He had been in ill health for several years, and death was attributed to complications. His wife preceded him in death about five years ago.
Mr. White was born in Alabama on August 13, 1861, and died Tuesday at the age of 80 years, 2 months, 12 days. He followed the vocation of farming and carpentry, and was well known and held in high regard by many in this section of Missouri.
He leaves to mourn his death two sons, J. M. White of Memphis and Norman White of Palm Beach, Calif., and four daughters, Mrs. Hettie Manning of Roswell, N.M., Mrs. C. J. McCormick of Holland, Mrs. L. T. Burton of Steele, and Mrs. Verna Story of Memphis. Several grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services are being held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Methodist Church in Holland, conducted by Rev. J. W. Cunningham, pastor of the Baptist Church of this city, and Elder Thomas E. Whitfield, pastor of the local Church of Christ. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at three o'clock in the Holland Baptist church by Rev. M.A. Massey of Steele, for Mrs. C.H. White, age 69 years and 6 months, who died at her home here Saturday morning, following a week's illness. Mrs. White, who has spent the greater part of her life near Holland, has been in failing health for several months. Her death was attributed to kidney trouble and old age.
She is survived by five children; Mrs. T.M. Manning of Roswell, New Mexico; J.M. White of Memphis; Mrs. C.J. McCormick of here; Mrs. L.T. Burton of Steele and Mrs. Verna Story of Holland. Four sisters: Mrs. Nan Lester, Mrs. Fannie Coleman; Mrs. Lulu Michie of Steele and Mrs. Sallie Barnes of Leighton, Alabama and one brother, Bud Wallace.
