Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the M.E. Church for Mrs. J. Edgar German, who died Tuesday night, May 5, 1937, after a several months illness of cancer. Rev. M.A. Massey, assisted by Rev. W.M. Duncan, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. German Undertaking Co. had charge of arrangements.
The pall bearers were Warren Pierce, O.A. Dunivant, Russ Rhinehart, C.S. Allbritton, J.R. Crockett and J.A. Brown.
The flower girls were Misses Hazel DeBakey, Eva Mae Peterson, Susie Williams, Wava Wells, Mary Julia Massey, Dorothy Yeager, Virginia Moore, Margaret Copeland, Dorothy Pierce, Helen Curry, and Mrs. Madalone Lee.
Ida Gertrude Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bailey was born in Dunklin County, Mo., on June 7, 1891, and departed this life May 4, 1937, at the age of 45 years, 10 months and 23 days. She was married in the year of 1910 to Joseph Edgar German, and has lived in this community many years.
Mrs. German united with the Methodist Church at the age of 14, and has lived a true and Christian life, always faithful to her family, church, neighbors and friends.
Both the German and Bailey families are pioneers of this community, having been active in the development of this community and our school systems.
The deceased is survived by her husband, three children, J.B., Buetta and Tommy, and one brother, Walter T. Bailey, a host of other relatives and friends.
