Bethel Juanita Lester, 86, of Steele, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at the River Oaks Care Center in Steele. She was born February 13, 1914, in Cooter, the daughter of the late Walter H. and Hattie Pierce Holly.
She was a homemaker and a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lester; two children, Nita Louise and Walter Lester, and one grandson, Lewis Lanier Lester.
Survivors include one grandson Rex Lester of Blytheville, Ark., one great granddaughter, Erin Lester of Blytheville, Ark.; two nieces,...; and other relatives.
Graveside services were held May 10, 2000, 11 a.m., at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, with Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating.

William Lewis Lester, 50, well-known Cooter farmer, ginner and businessman, died on Saturday, August 15, at a Blytheville hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Lester was born January 26, 1914 in Holland, the son of Bass and Montie Denton Lester and lived all of his life in south Pemiscot county. Active in community affairs he served as president of the Cooter School Board and was a member of the County School Board. He was a member of the Democratic Central Committee from Cooter Township and was a charter member and past president of the Cooter Lions Club.
In addition to his farming interests, he was owner of Lester Gin Company and Lester Soybean Company of Cooter.
Funeral services were held at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter with the Rev. J.E. Cooper officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bethel Lester and a son, Walter Lewis Lester, both of Cooter; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Barnes of Steele and Mrs. Lottie Earls of St. Louis. A daughter, Nita Lewese preceded him in death in 1935.
