Funeral services are pending for Mrs. Hetty Coker, 77, of 620 South Weaver, who suffered a fatal head injury in a fall at her home Friday. Greene County Coroner, Ralph Thieme, who investigated the case, said no inquest is planned into Mrs. Coker's death. The woman's daughter-in-law, Mrs. Katie Coker, also of the Weaver address, told police she and her daughter were in the kitchen about 2:30 p.m. Friday when they heard a noise. Investigating, they found Mrs. Coker lying on the floor in an adjacent room. Mrs. Coker apparently collapsed while walking across the room and fell, striking her head against the bottom step of a stairway leading to the second floor. The blow caused a deep forehead laceration and facial bruises. Mrs. Coker was dead on arrival at the Burge- Protestant Hospital. A native of Hurley, Mrs. Coker had lived the past six months with her son, Willie, at the Weaver address. Surviving besides the son, are two other sons, Jesse of Aurora, Mo. and James of Stotts City, Mo.; one sister, Julie Cloud of Springfield; one brother, Ernest of Watsonville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. {Springfield (MO) News Leader, October 28, 1967} Contributed by Jamie Hubbert.
