William Harp,... of Nixa, died Aug. 13, 2013. He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Chestnutridge, the son of Tommy and Fanny (Bryan) Harp. From 1944-1946 he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Sea Bee. William worked hard as a young man, riding horseback from home to Ozark or Rockaway Beach to work land, and riding with his older brother in Model A car to California to pick grapes in the summer.
He married Margaret Patton in 1948 and lived in California working for the Civil Service until 1981. He returned to Chestnutridge and later to Ozark and Nixa. Before leaving Chestnutridge, William donated landto buil New Haven Baptist Church. His wife, Margaret, passed away in 1998. He married Evelyn Napier in 2001. They enjoyed bowling until just recently.
William was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nixa.
Survivors include: His wife, Evelyn; two children Jo Anne Sakaoka of Ozark, and William R. Harp of Springfield; grandchildren, Billy Harp, Bryan Sakaoka, and Thomas Sakaoka; great-grand-children Nick Taylor, Billy Harp, Elizabeth Freel, Alex Sakaoka, Vivian Harp, and Autumn Sakaoka; two great-great grandchildren; a step-son, Doug Napier and wife Roberta; step-grandchildren, Preston Napier and Nathan Napier; a sister Ermal Meadows of Modesto, Calif.; and a brother Oliver Harp of Helena, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret, a brother, John "Buster" Harp; and three sisters Claris Dye, Jessie Anderson, and Minnie Jones.
