Steven Allen Messersmith, age 52, of Nixa, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015. He was born March 29, 1962 in San Diego, California, the son of Gordon Dean and Judy Rae (Estes) Messersmith. Steve held several occupations, most often in construction work. He enjoyed camping with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Glenda.
Survivors include: His son, Tyler Messersmith and wife Lorisa of Springfield; three grandchildren, Lincoln, Jaxon and Mason Messersmith; a sister Penny Dudley and Dale Cantrell of Ozark; two brothers, Wade Messersmith and Laura of Republic, and Doug Messersmith and Sherrie Pickering of Rogersville; nieces and nephews; and the mother of his son, Freila.
A graveside will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 26, at Hopedale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
Glenda Rhea Messersmith, of Ozark, was born August 28, 1965. She departed this life on May 29, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Bowling Green, Kentucky. Glenda graduated from Ozark High School and worked as an LPN. She particularly enjoyed working with children in home health settings and older adults in nursing care facilities. Glenda was a member of the Riverside Road Church of Christ in Ozark. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Steve, and especially loved camping, fishing and traveling with him. Glenda was proud of being a grandmother to Lincoln. Survivors include: Her husband, Steve; her mother, Gwen Swearingin, Ozark; her father, Wilbur Swearingin and his wife, Beverly, of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Amy VanGorden and husband, Todd, Ozark, and Susan Dimitrijevic and husband, Dejan, of Austin, Texas; a stepsister, Amy Deckard, Ozark; a stepbrother, David Deckard, New Mexico; stepson, Tyler Messersmith and wife, Lorisa, and grandson, Lincoln, Springfield; mother-in-law, Judy Messersmith, Nixa; two brothers-in-law, Wade Messersmith and wife, Lori, Republic, and Doug Messersmith and wife, Shelly, of Ozark; a sister-in-law, Penny Dudley, Palmyra; her grandmother, Ruby Yates, Ozark; a nephew, Andrew Dimitrijevic of Austin, Texas; two aunts; an uncle; three cousins; and many friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery.
