MRS. ARTHUR FITE, NOVELTY WOMAN ILL MANY YEARS,
DIES FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Mrs. Arthur Fite of Novelty, who had been in ill health for many years, died Friday afternoon, June 12, 1964 at her home. She was 73 years old.
The body was brought to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home here where it remained until noon Sunday when it was taken to the Novelty Christian Church, of which she was a member, to lie in state until funeral services there that afternoon. Burial was in the Novelty Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Eldora, Mrs. William S. Balthrop of Seattle, Washington; two grandsons, Ronald and Robert Plummer; two sisters, Meda, Mrs. Jacob Rhoades, and Ethel, Mrs. George Swann, both of Novelty; and a brother, Irwin Xander of St. Louis.
Mrs. Fite was born Jan. 6, 1891 in Knox County, a daughter of the late Clarence D. and Edna Honor (Ramsey) Xander. As Miss Verna L. Xander, she was married Sept. 10, 1911 to Arthur Fite in Plevna and they lived on a farm south of Novelty until 1952 when they moved into Novelty. They spent most of their lives in and near Novelty and celebrated their fiftieth Wedding Anniversary in 1961 with an open house at their home there.

Arthur Fite, 86 of Novelty, died early Monday morning, Aug. 12, 1974, at the Knox County Nursing Home where he had been a resident since May 10, 1972. He had been engaged in farming near Novelty and in later years lived in Novelty.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Novelty Christian Church, of which he was a member, and burial will be in the Novelty Cemetery under direction of the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home of Edina.
He is survived by a daughter, Eldora F., Mrs. Frank D. Plummer of Sunnyvale, California; two grandsons, Frank and Noel Plummer; a sister, Ella, Mrs. I.H. Phares of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; and two brothers, Homer Fite of Longmont, Colorado, and Willard Fite of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Mr. Fite was born Dec. 25, 1897 near Novelty, a son of Daniel B. and Ruthie Ellen (Hurlbert) Fite. He was married Sept. 10, 1911, at Plevna, to Verna Lenore Xander and she preceded him in death June 12, 1964. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1961 with an open house at Novelty.
